Maybe Dick Cheney isn’t running the government…

Over the past couple of years, I’ve assumed that Dick Cheney was running the US, using George Bush as a figurehead. It made sense to me; Bush doesn’t seem smart enough to be able to run a country by himself. But apparently, Cheney has a lot of time on his hands. The Office of the Vice President has chosen to get into a legal battle with satirical website Whitehouse.org.

Seriously! I couldn’t make this kind of stuff up. Apparently, the webmaster for Whitehouse.org received a letter of warning from the Office of the Vice President asking Whitehouse.org to take down all photos and satirical bios of Lynne Cheney, wife of the vice president.

While I can understand a husband wanting to protect the honor of his wife, is this seriously something that the Vice President should be concerning himself about? I mean, aside from the obvious fact that Lynn Cheney is a public figure, and is therefore fair game for satire, I would think that the Vice President should be spending his time on more important matters, such as the unlawful war this administration is about to wage on Iraq.
