Mark Twain’s “The War Prayer”

By | February 28, 2003

I am, as should be obvious from my postings here, a pacifist. I believe in peace, not war. And I tend to come across a lot of anti-war material, often times without even looking for it. Much of what I post here is exactly that, anti-war material. Some may think of this is a propaganda, but I am really not trying to convince anyone to see my point of view. I am just trying to show what my point of view is.

On that note, Mark Twain’s “The War Prayer” is a very powerful piece against war. Mr. Twain, elegant as ever, writes about the true meaning to the prayers that are said for our military as it goes to war.
