Thanks to GOG, purveyors of old/abandoned games from yesteryear, I was able to play through the original Space Quest 1 from Sierra. It’s funny, because the game isn’t really that funny. The jokes were mainly about Roger being asleep when his ship was attacked, him tripping in an alien ship and losing his disguise, and getting a golden mop statuette for saving the universe.
Like most of Sierra’s adventure games, I couldn’t get through it without a game guide, though. Back in the day, I bought the actual book (for $20, if I remember correctly) to help me finish the game on my beloved Amiga 2000. Now that we have the net, though, I was able to find and rely on this Space Quest 1 Walkthrough.
