If you take a stroll over to TaxIncrease.org you’ll find, among other falsehoods and misleading statements, a link to request a “no refund for you” bumpersticker. Which I find amazingly deceitful. If Colorado Referendum C were to pass this election year, Colorado taxpayers who pay too much in taxes during a tax year would still get the excess money refunded back to them. It is the TABOR-mandated tax rebate that referendum C is targeting.
Yet the folks at TaxIncrease.org don’t seem to have a problem spreading this disinformation. They’re hoping that, if they convince enough people that their tax returns are in danger, then Referendum C will fail. It’s a dirty trick, one that feels very slimy. And, unfortunately, one that might work.
