Corel is apparently considering another version of WordPerfect for Linux. Which is surprising, since Corel had basically abandoned the Linux market after receiving a huge influx of cash from Microsoft. Apparently Corel has used up all of M$’s money, though, and now feels secure coming out with a Linux version of WP.
More encouraging, this is apparently going to be a Linux-native version of Word Perfect. I was a beta tester for Word Perfect 2000 Office for Linux, which used a custom version of WINE to run the Windows version of WP on Linux. It was a horrible, kludgy mess. Hopefully Corel has put together something a little less yucky this time around.
