Interstate 25 through south Denver has been going through some massive changes over the last few years as part of the T-REX highway improvement project. Saturday morning, two now-unused overpasses were schedule to be imploded. However, things didn’t go exactly as planned: “It turned out that 235 pounds of dynamite was not enough to bring down one stubborn old bridge.”
The video on the website is pretty amazing. The explosion looks very impressive, there’s a huge cloud of dust, the dust settles… and one of the two bridges is still standing. The demolition team had to use heavy equipment to get the bridge to finally collapse.
