Justice for Tanner

By | February 10, 2004

The story about the abuse that Joseph Dowler inflicted on his infant son Tanner would’ve disgusted me no matter what. But as a father of a child who’s just a little older than Tanner was when he was killed, I am horrified. How could someone do that to their own baby? What the hell is wrong with this guy?

Fortunately, a little justice was doled out for Tanner Monday. Joseph Dowler was sentenced to 60 years in prison. The judge in the case also found Dowler’s actions horrifying: “‘I will frankly admit, one of my thoughts went to holding a blow torch to Mr. Dowler’s foot, but since that’s not legal, how does a sentence compare to that?’ said Boulder District Court Judge Morris Sandstead.”
