Another Denver Metro Area Fatal Police Shooting

By | August 5, 2003

There was yet another case of a metro area cop killing a suspect today. In this instance, a woman threw something at a police officer, cutting the officers arm. The officer responded by shooting and killing the suspect, supposedly in self-defense.

I don’t know… unless the woman was throwing Ninja stars or hand grenades, it seems like shooting and killing her should be considered excessive use of force.

I’ve said this before, and I still believe it: police officers need a non-lethal means of deterrence. This woman didn’t need to die! A shock from a Taser or a blast of mace surely would’ve been enough to incapacitate the suspect.
