One of the biggest problems in regards to our environment is the amount of electricity we as a culture use. If we can reduce the amount of electricity we use, then we can reduce the amount of pollution we manufacture producing electricity. One of the largest uses of electricity is artificial lighting. If we can reduce the electricity used to light up our world, we could significantly lower the amount of electricity that is used world-wide.
One technology which will make this possible is white-light LEDs. When perfected, LEDs will replace the incadescent lightbulb and possibly fluourescent lights. LEDs run on less electricity and last far longer than fluorescent bulbs.
