What’s more important: lynx and stream water level or skiing? According to USDA Deputy Undersecretary David Tenny, it is skiing: “Federal officials have ordered the managers of Colorado’s largest national forest to eliminate rules from its 15-year management plan that were designed to protect the state’s newly transplanted lynx and to keep minimum water levels in streams.”

Interestingly enough, Tenny did this without contacting Colorado’s Division of Wildlife: “Rick Kahn, state wildlife program manager for the Division of Wildlife, said no one from the Forest Service contacted the agency for information about lynx.”

This shouldn’t be a surprise, though. The Bush administration has shown basically no interest in preserving the environment nor wildlife in the environment.
